Web for beginners: the website

Site design and development
Before starting the internet adventure it's the case to ask yourself what you have to offer (be it a product or a service or a presence).
And then, if you are really available to acquiring the proper mentality; for instance, should you think that all you need is putting on-line a brochure and leave it there, then you'd better stop and forget it.
There is no general recipe: each customer is unique and the paths to be followed are countless, all of them to be taylored and adjusted to the real needs.
First of all you shall ask you:

whom you wish to address

how would you like to appear

what you intend to offer

Pictures
Pictures are extremely relevant as, if well played, they are more effective than so many words: reading is something one has to want, but a picture gets in straightforward before one can screen it off.
I can take care of them and provide their contents in an impeccable form according to your instructions and taste.

Graphic, animation, Flash

Moving stuff catches attention - though it isn't that easy to make.

Graphic effects should not be their own end, but rather get integrated in the text without squeaking, and complete the page without making it any heavier.
To be avoided: Flash intros use to appeal to the one who makes them - but not always to the one who watches them: making them slender and pleasant requires some practice and many little tricks.

The golden rules

There is a base of wise criteria worth observing:

  • always answer an e-mail (your visitor shall not feel ignored).
  • update your site often: it shall not look like a "ghost site", else you are definitely out.
  • do not burden your pages with pointless graphics just because you like it.
  • keep a good "navigability": your visitor must be able to find what he's after in the quickest and easiest way - most of them use to be pretty impatient.
  • nice e quick pictures pass more information than thousands of words.
  • the contents shall be exaustive and brief.
